Jamming for a cause...

What better way to raise money for a good cause than by combining art and music? Free people teamed up with Rickenbacker Guitars to create these beautiful pieces, each designed by a free people artist. The guitars will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to Music For A Cure. The auction is being held from March 15-April 3. Check them out here and show a little love...

Utterly Engaged Leap Day Party

These last couple of days I have spent hunched over my sewing machine, frantically trying to finish two dresses that Ali and I planned to wear to the Utterly Engaged Leap Day party for wedding designers, vendors, photographers and bloggers. After working out the kinks in my back, we got our networking faces on and checked out the tablescape design competitions. The event was held at the Pandora on Green in pasadena which is a great blank-space venue and was filled with awesome creative happy people...Here's a taste of our leap day fun :)

Enjoy

Newest obsession

Dear Friends,

My latest obsession has kept me busy, tearing, shredding, dyeing, painting, studding and sewing vintage levi's and turning them into something bright and new. My work space is strewn with the discarded legs of jeans and my bathtub has taken on a pinkish hue but it all seems to be worth it. Be on the lookout for my etsy shop hopefully coming soon :)

Enjoy

"oh oh, its magic, you knoooow"

This is possibly the coolest book I've seen in a long time.

Pattern Magic byTomoko Nakamichi is a pattern-making book from Japan. Drawing from from nature, geometric shapes, and from the crazy street style one finds in Tokyo, this book is a beautiful 'how to' guide in sculpting clothes. Take a look, the clothes really are like sculptures or architecture.

There are 3 volumes, the first two only in japanese....but now the third is available in English!! yay!

Some of the pieces are protruding and in your face and others are subtle and delicate...

And it comes with step by step instructions, including diagrams, which are exceedingly helpful in the japanese versions :)

So there you have it, a small tid bit on the crazy and wonderful things that can be done with patterns!

Happy Wednesday!
